Development land earmarked for 500 new homes launched to market

MORE than 50 acres of development land on Edinburgh’s east coast – which has planning permission in principle for construction of around 500 homes – has been brought to market.

The land at New Brunstane is being jointly marketed by Savills and Justin Lamb Associates.

Just five miles from Edinburgh’s city centre, and nestled near the costal suburbs of Musselburgh and Joppa, it is surrounded by fields and woodland with views of Edinburgh and the iconic Arthur’s Seat, the Pentland Hills and East Lothian countryside.

Ben Brough, Savills head of development in Scotland, said, “New Brunstane is a particularly attractive spot, with iconic views. We anticipate a high level of demand for this fantastic opportunity to provide family housing at scale, in a great location for families and commuters.”

A further adjacent site at New Brunstane is currently awaiting planning permission for the delivery of 676 homes. The two areas will be joined by a new bridge including road, cycle and footpath.

Justin Lamb, director of Justin Lamb Associates, added, “This is a truly wonderful opportunity to acquire around 50 acres of land with planning permission for 500 new homes, all within a mature landscape setting accessed via Milton Road East. The site benefits from excellent transport links into Edinburgh by bus and train, easy access to Fort Kinnaird which provides a first class retail offering, and a beach only a five minute walk away.”
