Work progresses on Stirling Train Station’s £5m upgrade

WORK has began on the upgrade of facilities at Stirling Train Station’s platform 2 as part of the £5 million modernisation of the station.

Scheduled for completion by spring 2023, the wider project is being led by Luddon Construction and will see the creation of a pedestrianised plaza around the station, a refurbishment of the station entrance, taxis being relocated out of the station, and a cyclepoint with 150 additional cycle parking spaces.

Work began earlier this week to fit the lounge and toilet facility found on platform 2 with new floors, walls, and ceilings, with new furniture being installed in the lounge. Once complete, the toilet and customer lounge on platform 3 will then also be refurbished.

John MacDonald, ScotRail senior project manager, said, “Over the next couple of months, work on the redevelopment of Stirling station will see the refurbishment of the customer facilities on platform 2 and platform 3.

“The wider station redevelopment is an exciting project which will modernise Stirling station by delivering a more people-focused entrance with safe pedestrian and cycle friendly areas. It will also help promote train travel as we continue with our commitment to delivering better more sustainable transport options.”
