‘Much-needed’ affordable homes delivered in Linlithgow

FAMILIES have started moving in to a new-build social housing development in Linlithgow.

Cala Homes (East) has handed over 14 new affordable homes at its Queenswood site to Wheatley Homes East.

Over the last few weeks, tenants have moved into a mix of properties designed to complement and match the Queenswood development, which was named small development of the year at the Scottish Housing Awards.

Michael McCormack, site manager with Cala Homes (East), said, “To be able to secure planning, complete the construction and fit out of affordable housing in an area where it is massively in-demand is very rewarding. It’s excellent to see that tenants so far are delighted with the finished product and location and we’re very happy to have been able to be a key part of that. It marks another highly successful partnership between Cala and Wheatley Group.”

All of the homes have solar panels and access to electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Frank McCafferty, Wheatley Group director of repairs and assets, said, “We are committed to working with our partners across the sector to increase the supply of much-needed affordable homes. There’s a real need for affordable housing in the area and I know our tenants will enjoy living in these modern, spacious, energy-efficient homes.”
