A new high-tech golfing experience is set to open in Rutherglen on Friday 16 December following the completion of core civil and structural services by Will Rudd Davidson.

Topgolf Playmakers is opening its first Scottish complex at the multi-level facility. The move has been described as an ‘integral’ part of the ongoing regeneration of Glasgow’s east end, in partnership with Clyde Gateway.

Will Rudd Glasgow division utilised a number of its in-house specialisms, including façade engineering and contractor design experience to deliver the project that includes a ‘complex’ series of multiple façade types, ornate stairs design and curtain walling along with an intricate underground drainage network.

Players will choose from a range of fun and interactive golf-related games. Topgolf Glasgow is powered by Toptracer technology, a ball-tracing technology seen at major golf events and driving ranges around the world.

MJ O’Shaughnessy, MD of Will Rudd Glasgow and Ireland, said, “It’s great to see this magnificent project now ready to open. I am incredibly proud of the team for all of their hard work in delivering what will likely be a popular leisure destination for people from all across Scotland and further afar.

“Given the site’s complexities, it was really important that we worked closely with all of the design team and contractors to deliver what was required, especially in relation to the complex drainage network. For us, it was a great opportunity to showcase the broad range of skills Will Rudd has to offer and it is excellent to see it reach completion.”

Simon Green, director of operations for Topgolf Glasgow, added, “We’ve been overwhelmed with the energy of the city in the run-up to opening the doors of our first Scottish venue. Our newly recruited Playmakers are busy training and excited to welcome in our first players ahead of Christmas.”
