CBRE has added to its Scottish Operational Real Estate (OPRE) team with the appointment of associate director Tony Spence.
Tony will be based in the Edinburgh office but will work across Scotland, undertaking all aspects of hotel and hospitality brokerage within the team. CBRE said he brings a wealth of knowledge within the sector and will be tasked with growing the firm’s expertise in hotels and hospitality across Scotland, working closely with colleagues in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and London.
The appointment bolsters the existing team which includes Kathryn Bennett and Alex Warburton, who focus on operational real estate investment, and Gregor Porteous and Eilidh MacVicar who lead on valuation.
Kathryn Bennett, director and head of the Scottish Operational Real Estate team, said, “Tony’s appointment is a welcome addition to the Operational Real Estate team in Scotland which has grown quickly since it was established in 2018. We now have five full-time staff covering a full range of valuation, advisory and transactional services across healthcare, pubs, hotels, leisure and student accommodation. This strengthens our market position, and we will continue to expand to take advantage of opportunities in 2023.”
David Smith, MD of CBRE Scotland, added, “Tony’s appointment comes at a significant time for the firm in Scotland as we witness real estate markets changing. He brings a new skill set and a wealth of experience, particularly within the hotel sector, which will now enable us to offer every aspect of valuation and investment advice for all sectors within operational real estate in Scotland.
“The hire is further evidence of our commitment to appoint the best talent in the market so we can continue to provide a top-class service to our clients.”
