RENEWAL works have been completed on the upgrade of the synthetic sports pitch at Mearns Castle High School in East Renfrewshire.

The council project included improving the playing surface, lighting, and fencing at the facility. The pitch is ‘extensively’ used by school pupils and sports clubs, whilst also being available for public use.

Housing and environment convener at East Renfrewshire Council, councillor Danny Devlin, said, “The past 18 months has seen unprecedented investment in our parks, facilities and public spaces and I am delighted to see yet another completed project here at Mearns Castle. I’m sure everyone who takes to the field will be delighted with the results. We’re committed to providing high quality facilities for residents and visitors to East Renfrewshire and the works that have taken place across 2021 and 2022 are a testament to that.”

Mearns Castle High head teacher, Stuart Clark, added, “It’s fantastic to see this facility upgraded to such a high standard. Our pupils are already benefiting from the improved pitch, which will support the school in delivering high-quality sport and physical activity sessions.”
