Developer to bring forward plans for creation of ‘vibrant’ Peebles site

EDINBURGH-based residential developer Whiteburn has vowed to breathe new life into March Street Mill in Peebles after purchasing it from Moorbrook Textiles Limited.

The 2.24 Ha site is a former woollen mill which dates from around 1884. Moorbrook stopped production on the site in 2015.

Whiteburn won the 2022 Place Making Award from Scottish Borders Council for its Caerlee Mill project in Innerleithen after creating a community and development which connects with the wider town. The firm said is has ‘equal aspiration’ for March Street.

MD Eve McCurrich explained, “March Street is a fantastic location, a short walk from the High Street and amenities of the town, it is a true 20-minute neighbourhood. We look forward to engaging with all key stakeholders as we develop our proposals to create a vibrant and beautiful place.”

Ian Laird of Moorbrook commented, “We are delighted that Whiteburn has become new owners of March Street. We have been impressed with what they have done in the past and we are confident that their plans will consider the breadth of local interests and needs.”
