TAYLOR Wimpey East Scotland has revealed pre-construction work is underway on a new 134-home development on land at Gilmerton South, Edinburgh.

Farrier Fields will deliver 100 two, three and four-bedroom homes, as well as 34 affordable homes offering a mix of two and three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached homes together with the associated infrastructure.

The land forms the final phase of a masterplan development to deliver almost 1,000 new homes, which was granted Planning Permission in Principle (PPiP) in 2016.

The housebuilder said there are ‘significant’ areas of open space which will be retained and improved and connect into the existing sustainable urban drainage system to manage surface water.

Pauline Mills, land & planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said, “We are so pleased to be starting the pre-construction works at our Farrier Fields development in Gilmerton, which will complete the vision of the Gilmerton South Masterplan and further cement our commitment and investment in Edinburgh. As one of the largest housebuilders in the UK, we are committed to building more than homes and making sure that we add social, economic and environmental value to the wider communities that we operate in.

“As well as an impressive range of new homes, our development will also provide a range of economic benefits for the local Gilmerton and wider Edinburgh area which includes supporting around 469 jobs during construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses from those who choose to live in one of the new homes this development aims to deliver.”
