COMMUNITY group Blooming Haddington has received help in adding colour and vibrance to the East Lothian town in the form of a donation from Stewart Milne Homes.

The housebuilder has sponsored several floral hanging baskets, as well as contributed an extra donation to help the group continue to enhance the town centre.

Blooming Haddington, which is run by volunteers, has planted tens of thousands of bulbs around the town since being formed in 2013. Over the years the group has restored the previously run-down Oriental Garden into a space incorporating a pond, bench and hand-crafted wooden archway, as well as planting 1,500 lavenders and 100 French Irises into Lady Kitty’s Garden.

More recently, Blooming Haddington installed several flower beds in the local park, organised two public benches to be fitted behind the Ferguson monument, upgraded the pathways, and introduced lighting to the park.

Tony Williamson, sales and marketing director at Stewart Milne Homes Scotland, said, “Haddington is a vibrant town and we’re proud to support Blooming Haddington’s efforts with our donation and sponsorship of the wonderful hanging baskets. Blooming Haddington’s goal to enhance the historic and natural beauty of their town, closely echoes the people-first approach to development we take here at Stewart Milne Homes.

“Our highly sought-after Letham Views development has been designed with the same approach in mind, with plentiful green spaces for the whole family to enjoy.

“It’s no surprise that Blooming Haddington has won gold in the Beautiful Scotland competition every year since 2014, and we hope our contribution goes some way towards securing another win this year.”

Graeme Yarwood, a Blooming Haddington volunteer, added, “As a group, we are very proud to work in the local community to help create a vibrant and attractive place for people to live, work and play. We welcome everyone to join Blooming Haddington and with support from local businesses and organisations, we have the opportunity to continue to our efforts and improve the environment for generations to come.

“The support from Stewart Milne Homes is very much appreciated and we’d like to thank the team for their generous donation.”
