A major housebuilder is seeking subcontractors from across Fife to help deliver a new 342-property development in St Andrews.

David Wilson Homes, part of Barratt Developments, is set to construct 342 new homes following a land purchase in Craigtoun and is calling on businesses to come forward and learn more about the opportunities available.

Work will soon commence at the site, which sits close to Younger Gardens in the south east of the Fife town. The community will comprise up to 240 private and 103 affordable homes, with house types including apartments, bungalows and two-storey houses.

David Wilson Homes will be hosting a ‘Meet the Developer’ event on August 8 and is looking to expand its supply chain across a variety of trades, including plumbers, electricians, painters and decorators.

The event will involve a presentation from the developer and a discussion of the plans for the St Andrews project. Interested parties are asked to register their attendance in advance of the event, which takes place at the Apex City Quay Hotel in Dundee.

Lynn Gordon, commercial director at Barratt Developments Scotland, said, “We’re really pleased to have finalised our purchase of the land at Craigtoun in St Andrews and are now looking to supplement our existing subcontractor base to help us deliver this high-quality housing development. Those who believe they have the relevant skills and experience may have worked with us previously or be new to Barratt Developments.

“Alternatively, they could currently be working in the commercial sector and considering expanding into housebuilding. The trades we’re looking for include – but are not limited to – electricians, plumbers, painters and decorators, joiners, roofers, scaffolders, bricklayers, landscapers and mastic sealant contractors.

“Subcontractors are a vital part of our business and, at Barratt Developments, we are looking to create genuine and lasting partnerships. We ask any interested contractors to register and attend the event to find out more about working with Barratt and our future plans.”

Attendees to the Meet the Developer Event are invited to arrive at 9am for a breakfast roll and coffee ahead of a 9.30am start. To register interest and confirm attendance, contact meetthedeveloperbes@barratthomes.co.uk
