Ayrshire construction firms put best foot forward for charity

THREE Ayrshire construction businesses have taken part in an eight-mile sponsored walk to raise funds for Ayrshire Cancer Support.

The Wee House Company, Connect Modular Ltd and Hope South West all closed their businesses for the day on Friday August 5 to enable staff to participate. The walk started in Irvine and finished in Kilmarnock.

To date, the event has raised £2,010.

Jennifer Higgins, MD of The Wee House Company and Connect Modular, said, “We wanted to organise a staff event to bring our teams together for a day of fun and team-building, and we soon decided there was no better way of increasing the ‘feel good factor’ than to incorporate a charity element into the gathering. We asked our staff to vote for the charity of their choice and Ayrshire Cancer Support was a clear winner, with it being a cause that has touched all of our lives at some point.

“We have been overwhelmed by the positive response to this event. The amount of money raised has been incredible and I want to thank every single person who has donated, and of course to thank our staff for participating.”

Anne Hope, director at Hope South West, added, “Hope South West Ltd were delighted to take part in this team building event. It was great to cement relationships with our colleagues at The Wee House Company and Connect Modular, and with other subcontractors.

“We have matched the donations made by our employees and friends, as promised, as we know that Ayrshire Cancer Support does excellent work.”
