TAYLOR Wimpey East Scotland has confirmed construction work is underway to deliver 132 new homes at its Lauder Grove development, on land off Glasgow Road towards the eastern boundary of Ratho Station.

The site will comprise a range of one and two-bedroom apartments, as well as two, three, four and five-bedroom homes. There will also be a provision of 25% affordable one and two-bedroom apartments, as well as two and three-bedroom homes.

Taylor Wimpey revealed Lauder Grove will encourage homeowners to consider more ‘green’ travel options, balancing a reduction in private car parking spaces with the provision of two City Car Club spaces.

Design principles include retaining existing woodland located along Glasgow Road as well as on the fringe of the development ‘where practicably possible’, and an investment in Ratho Station Park aims to improve its landscaping. New footpaths and cycle routes have also been tipped to enhance the appeal of the park.

A secondary active travel access will eventually be provided from Hillwood Rise for use by pedestrians, cyclists and scooter users, as well as allowing for emergency only access to the development.

Pauline Mills, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said, “We are very pleased to be starting our programme of construction work at Lauder Grove in Ratho Station, which further cements our commitment and investment within Edinburgh and the Lothians. As one of the largest housebuilders in the UK, we are committed to building more than homes and making sure that we add social, economic and environmental value to the wider communities that we operate in.

“As well as delivering an impressive choice of new homes for buyers regardless of where they are on the property ladder, our development at Lauder Grove will provide a range of community benefits including an investment in Ratho Station Park and the provision of affordable homes.”
