‘State-of-the-art’ £200,000 pump track to open in Fife

A ‘highly anticipated’ new £200,000 pump track facility is to officially open in Fife.

The fully floodlit track was designed and created by Swiss-headquartered, Velosolutions, and has been built to competition standard.

Pump tracks can be used by mountain bike, BMX, skateboard, rollerblade, and scooter riders and wheelchair users. The tracks use rollers and banked turns to help riders generate momentum by up and down body movements, instead of pedalling or pushing.

Councillor Colin Davidson, convenor of Fife Council’s Levenmouth area committee, said, “The investment and installation of the new track will offer opportunities to improve the health and wellbeing of local residents and to attract visitors to the area.

“The residents and council officers involved in bringing this state-of-the-art facility to Kennoway deserve a huge amount of credit, especially when it was conceived, constructed and delivered against the backdrop of Covid.

“We can look forward to the track being used not just by locals but also to host local and national events.”
