LOCAL contractors are being invited to a meet the buyer event which will showcase contract opportunities on council projects happening across East Renfrewshire.

It comes as East Renfrewshire Council contractors – including BAM, Heron Bros, and AmcoGiffen – look for local suppliers to work on projects such as the Neilston Education Campus, Barrhead river restoration project, and the Eastwood Leisure Centre build.

Bricklayers, decorators, flooring contractors, joiners, landscapers, glaziers, and fencers are amongst those being sought by the contractors, the local authority added.

The drop-in event will take place on Thursday 4 August, from 9am until 12pm, in the Westbourne Centre in Barrhead. Business Gateway and the council’s economic development and procurement teams will be on hand to offer support and guidance to local firms who want to grow by completing tenders and winning new business.

East Renfrewshire Council leader, councillor Owen O’Donnell, said, “It’s important when significant Council contracts and projects are agreed, that local businesses and residents benefit from the various opportunities available. This event is an excellent chance for local contractors to get involved in some really exciting projects, so I’d encourage anyone who is interested to book their place.”
