Polden roof tiles specified for Callander affordable housing project

DEVELOPER Lovell Partnerships has specified pitched roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles (RRT) for a new affordable housing project in Callander.

The development of Claish Farm, headed by Rural Stirling Housing Association and Lovell, has delivered 50 new affordable properties in the area.

The site contains a mix of bungalows and two, three and four-bedroom houses, of which all have Polden tiles from RRT’s Natural Range to ensure they blend ‘seamlessly’ with surrounding homes.

The roof tile manufacturer explained it produces concrete tiles that replicate the appearance of natural looking roof tiles with the benefits of offering ‘greater strength’, adding that its modern manufacturing methods deliver a ‘technically consistent and quality product’ for the developer.

RRT said the tiles are manufactured using 15% less raw materials than a standard flat interlocking tile.

Alan Young, regional sales director at Russell Roof Tiles, said, “We’re delighted to have supported Lovell and pleased to have been able to provide a consistent, reliable product for this development.”

Russell Roof Tiles also worked with Lovell on a MOD project last year to deliver 917 homes on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire as part of the £250 million development programme.

Lovell regional MD, Kevin McColgan, added, “We were delighted to have chosen to use Russell Roof Tiles on our Claish Farm development near Stirling. The quality of their product added significantly to the impact of the overall build.

“As a result, the Claish Farm development has been an exemplar for other local authorities and housing associations, who have visited to see the fantastic work that has been done.  We look forward to using Russell Roof Tiles again in the future.”
