Work gathers pace on £7.4m Paisley hub

CONSTRUCTION work is gathering pace the new £7.4 million Paisley Learning & Cultural Hub in Renfrewshire.

The facility comprises the repurposing and reconfiguration of former retail premises into a digitally-focused learning hub for the local community with services including a children’s library and free-to-use IT systems.

The hub is the latest example of how Renfrewshire Council is helping repopulate Paisley’s High Street by finding cultural and community uses for vacant retail property as well as the upgrading of venues and spaces.

Arc-Tech (Scotland) is supporting main contractor CCG on behalf of the council and hub West Scotland, and will now begin an extensive mechanical and electrical service installation package including all lighting, fire, security, and data systems as well as ventilation, air conditioning and heating.

John Gallacher, Arc-Tech (Scotland) MD, said, “Paisley Learning & Cultural Hub is the latest example of Renfrewshire Council’s ambitious plan to increase foot fall to Paisley town centre and improve its cultural services. Arc-Tech’s experience in commercial refurbishment is extensive and we are delighted to add this project to our burgeoning portfolio. I look forward to seeing how the works programme will progress over the coming months.”
