Builder goes the extra Yard to deliver festive cheer

HOUSEBUILDER Living by Robertson helped deliver some festive cheer in Edinburgh with a visit to the ‘winter wonderland’ at its nominated Christmas charity, The Yard.

The adventure play centre for disabled children, young people and their families, was established in the Scottish capital in 1986. It now has three sites and supports hundreds of families across the country.

Like most charities, The Yard has seen an increased need for its services, while at the same time the ability to fundraise has been severely impacted by the pandemic.

Living by Robertson’s donation of £2,000 will fund The Yard’s Christmas parties this year.

First started by a group of parents, teachers and social workers who wanted to create a safe place for disabled children to play, The Yard now offers support to youngsters of all ages and their families.

Margaret Davidson, sales and marketing director at Living by Robertson, said, “The Yard is a wonderful, welcoming space and the atmosphere the team has created here is joyous. We know how hard the charity has worked to continue to fundraise over the last two years and hope our donation will lead to others choosing to donate to The Yard this Christmas.”

Jenny MacDonald, The Yard’s director of development, added, “We are extremely grateful to Living by Robertson for choosing to support The Yard. This donation will make a great difference for our disabled children and young people and our families at The Yard.”
