MOTT MacDonald has appointed Simon Pierce as director of façade engineering, where he will be tasked with leading the UK façades team within the built environment practice.
He joins from Eckersley O’Callaghan, where he was involved in projects including the Skolkovo Sberbank Technopark in Moscow with Zaha Hadid Architects and the Stamford Bridge Stadium redevelopment in London with Herzog and De Meuron.
“I’m a passionate advocate of weaving sustainability through all aspects of building design, particularly in respect to net zero carbon, circularity and resilience,” Simon Pierce explained. “This approach chimes strongly with Mott MacDonald’s values and commitment to improve social outcomes through engineering. I’m excited to get started.”
Mott MacDonald has grown its façade team since 2003. Recent projects include College Road, Croydon with TIDE (the world’s tallest modular building), the new RCA campus in Battersea with Herzog and De Meuron, and new underground stations for the Northern Line extension with Grimshaw Architects.
