Major delivery taken on River Ness hydro project

DELIVERY of two huge Archimedes’ screws have been taken on site of the build of the River Ness hydro project.

It comes as The Highland Council builds a hydroelectric generator which will double up as an interactive visitor experience on the River Ness.

The generator will use the Archimedes’ screws to harness the energy of the water flowing down the River Ness, which the local authority said could generate 100kW of electricity.

The chair of The Highland Council’s education committee, councillor John Finlayson, commented, “This exciting new hydro project will serve as a flagship for the Highland Council’s response to climate change and will be operating for many years to come.”
