Taylor Wimpey plans build of 206 homes in Hamilton

TAYLOR Wimpey West Scotland has progressed plans for the build of 206 new homes in Hamilton.

The proposed development off Meikle Earnock Road would form part of the wider masterplan for the Brackenhill Farm area.

Planning permission in principle has already been secured, with the firm having now submitted an approval of matters specified in conditions application (AMSC) to South Lanarkshire Council which sets out its detailed proposals for housing mix, landscaping and building materials.

The proposals include a mix of two and three-bedroom terrace and semi-detached, as well as four and five-bedroom detached homes. The design of the development follows the agreed design principles already set out in the masterplan which will see upgrades to Meikle Earnock Road, including continuation of the bus route and a new footpath network allowing access to the adjacent woodland and open space.

Colin Blair, technical director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said, “We are delighted to confirm that we have made our AMSC application for the development of land off Meikle Earnock Road in Hamilton. This proposed development represents a significant and continued investment in the local area by Taylor Wimpey West Scotland and a return to Hamilton for our business.

”Our proposed development to deliver 206 new homes forms a key part of the Brackenhill Farm area masterplan, which was granted Planning Permission in Principle in May 2017, and we look forward to positive discussions with the local authority in order to progress this development.

“As well playing our part in the delivery of new homes within the Brackenhill Farm masterplan, our development would provide a range of economic benefits for the local area which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses.”
