Monifieth housing project tipped to bring construction sector jobs boost

TAYLOR Wimpey East Scotland has submitted an application for Planning Permission in Principle to Angus Council for up to 50 new homes through the development of land at Victoria Street, Monifieth.

The move follows the conclusion of two online public consultation events.

The proposed development aims to provide a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom homes, of which 25% will be affordable.

Pauline Mills, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said, “During our consultation process throughout the summer, we have listened and responded to views from a range of stakeholders and members of the local community. This process has contributed to the design of our emerging masterplan for the development, and we have now submitted our planning application for Planning Permission in Principle to Angus Council. We look forward to working with the Local Authority towards a determination of our application in early spring 2022, before making a detailed planning application shortly thereafter.

“As well as an impressive range of new homes, further development at Victoria Street would provide a range of economic benefits for the local Monifieth and wider Angus area. This could include supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses from those who choose to live in one of the new homes this development aims to deliver.”
