Taylor Wimpey secures land for next phase of Winchburgh masterplan

LAND has been acquired for the build of 101 new homes in Winchburgh, Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has announced.

Located off Duntarvie Castle Road, the development forms part of phase 2 of the wider Winchburgh masterplan.

The firm said that, once complete, it will see ‘at least’ 3,800 new homes delivered, as well as improved transport links, employment opportunities and ‘state-of-the-art’ schools.

Further to this will be new outdoor spaces that will include a new canal marina, the creation of Auldcathie District Park and a new motorway junction.

Auldcathie View will provide 46 three and four bedroom homes, as well as 55 affordable homes. The properties will be directly adjoined to the new park, which Taylor Wimpey said will make for the most rural life offering in the masterplan.

Pauline Mills, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, commented, “We are delighted that our Approval of Matters Specified by Conditions for land off Duntarvie Castle Road in Winchburgh was approved by West Lothian Council last week. Now that we have acquired this land, we are looking forward to playing our part in the delivery of the Winchburgh masterplan.

“As well as an impressive range of new private and affordable homes, Auldcathie View will provide a range of economic benefits for the local Winchburgh area which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses from those who choose to live in one of the new homes this development aims to deliver.”

John Hamilton, chief executive of Winchburgh Developments Ltd, added, “We look forward to welcoming Taylor Wimpey to Winchburgh later this year as the development enters a very exciting stage. With the first phase of the 85 acre Auldcathie District Park about to open and the marina basin complete, as well as the schools on target for 2023, it is an exciting time in Winchburgh for all involved. With so much to offer homebuyers we have seen excellent demand for new homes in Winchburgh, and as the development continues to progress, we are sure this demand will only continue to increase.”
