Edinburgh glamping specialist confirms English expansion

AN Edinburgh-based glamping site design consultancy has announced plans to open its first office in England as part of the firm’s expansion plans.

Glampitect said increasing demand has prompted the decision to establish a base south of the border, with the English operation located in Birmingham.

The business was founded two years ago by entrepreneur Calum MacLeod and his business partner Alisdair Young.

Calum MacLeod said, “A bit like the glamping industry itself, we are growing at a remarkable rate and are currently involved in more than 400 projects throughout the UK. We are working with clients across the length and breadth of the country, and are doing everything from our head office in Edinburgh just now.

“The rapid growth wasn’t in our original strategic business plan but it soon became clear that there was genuine scope to expand and we’re now seeing that come to fruition. It became evident that we would benefit from having another base, preferably in England. My focus has been on finding a suitable location in central or southern England and Birmingham is the ideal place.”

The Birmingham premises will initially feature a team of five, with recruitment underway for two architects, two sales consultants and a research and reporting consultant. The anticipation is that the team could more than double within the next year.

“Having people on the ground there will allow us to better serve more clients and is another exciting development for Glampitect,” Calum MacLeod added. “This will allow us to put plans in place for further growth and I’m really excited about what lies ahead for us as a company. It’s incredibly hard work but I’m loving every minute of it.”

Glampitect set up its first international office in Dubai earlier this year.

The firm conducts research, feasibility, design, planning and marketing services to help businesses set up glamping sites. It also offers glamping units, streamlines all processes and oversees all operations required to launch a site.
