JOHN Dennis & Company (Scotland) Ltd has been appointed as the build contractor for the Eyemouth waterfront regeneration project.

The appointment comes following plans for the works at the former fish market site being approved by the Scottish Borders Council in January.

The approval gave the green light for the demolishment of the former fish market building at the site earlier this year, with it making way for the build of a new £850,000 two-storey facility which will feature space for market traders and venues, as well as areas for start up businesses and small offices.

Christine Bell, CEO of Eyemouth Harbour Trust, said, “Eyemouth Harbour Trust warmly welcome the decision and outcome of the planning process. The approval allows us to take forward this exciting development of the quayside area with the creation of multipurpose, all year round spaces for businesses, the community and visitors based on flexible, covered space that accommodate seasonality and the Scottish weather.
