A refurbishment project at Balerno High School in Edinburgh is gathering pace, with Arc-Tech providing support to main contractor Maxi Construction.
A £3.3 million contract undertaken on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council involves the upgrade of the building’s fabric including a new roof system, insulation, as well as floors, ceilings, a new kitchen and improved toilet facilities.
Building services specialist Arc-Tech has led the installation of mechanical and electrical upgrades, delivering full replacement of the fire alarm system, lighting, small power wiring systems and LV switchgear as well as alterations to ventilation, and sanitary ware upgrades throughout.
John Gallacher, Arc-Tech MD, said, “Balerno High School forms part of a wider regeneration of educational premises across the capital and we are delighted to be involved. The high school building is over 40-years-old so the work that the project team is undertaking will go a long way to improving services for staff and pupils whilst extending its lifespan.
“Our progress to date has been very positive and we thank Maxi Construction, whom we have worked with over a number of years now, for bringing us on board.”
