DUNDEE City Council has announced it is proposing an investment of almost £250,000 into the creation of two new synthetic sports pitches in the city.

The local authority’s neighbourhood services committee will be asked to approve £245,000 towards the construction costs of a nine-a-side 3G pitch at the Dundee North West Community Sports Hub on Charlotte Street and a seven-a-side pitch at Fairfield Community Sports Hub.

Neighbourhood services convener, councillor Anne Rendall, said, “The proposed investment is very positive and will allow many to benefit from multi-use sports facilities in their community.

“It’s been down to the hard work of the many partners in these projects which has meant the plans have got to this stage.

“The city’s community sports hubs provide invaluable work and I know that these pitches will add to the current provision of facilities and allow for more opportunities for training and coaching in the future.”
