Arc-Tech MU commences work at Glasgow passivhaus development

MULTI-utilities works are underway at a major new residential project in the east end of Glasgow.

Springfield Cross comprises 36 one and two-bedroom affordable homes delivered by West of Scotland Housing Association. Upon completion, they will achieve Passivhaus standards of environmental performance, making it the largest of its kind in the Glasgow and Greater Glasgow area.

Arc-Tech MU is responsible for the design and installation of a duel-fuel gas and electrical multi-utilities package, supporting main contractor CCG on behalf of West of Scotland Housing Association and development partner, hub West Scotland.

Construction on the building’s superstructure will commence this spring with full completion expected in 2022.

Arc-Tech MU MD, Josh Martin, said, “With the forthcoming changes to building standards, as well as our target to become a net zero economy, the construction landscape in Scotland is set for significant changes within this decade and multi-utilities will have a very important part to play. Arc-Tech MU welcome this future and that is why we are very proud to be part of Springfield Cross. The site itself is a challenge given its size and the immediacy of London Road but our expert contracts team will ensure that the needs of the main construction programme are met to the highest quality standards. We look forward to seeing this project progress over the coming months.”
