MORVEN Bridges has been appointed as head of engineering at Caledonian Maritime Asset Ltd (CMAL).
The new role will see Morven oversee the programming and delivery of CMAL’s engineering projects at their ports, harbours and infrastructure across the west coast of Scotland, Clyde Estuary and Northern Isles.
She joins the firm with nearly 25 years of civil engineering experience in both private and public service roles. Most recently, she was appointed as principal engineer for BEAR Scotland in the north west major bridges unit.
Prior to this, Morven held various civil engineering positions within Forestry and Land Scotland over a period of 13 years; from appointment as recreation engineer in 2007, to delivery of civil engineering programmes in Highland, Argyll and Grampian areas, before progressing to lead national civil engineering operations in 2012.
Commenting on her new appointment, Morven said, “With an ambitious programme of harbour development ahead, associated with both fleet renewal and ongoing proactive management and maintenance of the harbour assets, this is a very exciting time for CMAL. I look forward to working with the highly experienced engineering team to deliver the highest quality of work across the extensive network.
“Engaging and building relationships with contractors and engineering consultants, as well as local port operators and authorities and the local communities that rely on safe, effective harbour facilities will be a key priority for me, because their knowledge and experience is essential in delivering fit-for-purpose projects and programmes of work.”
