TAYLOR Wimpey West Scotland has submitted an approval of matters specified in conditions (MSC) for the build of 288 homes in Coatbridge.
The site, at Calder Wynd, is part of a wider masterplan which benefits from planning permission in principle. The firm’s MSC planning application sets out its detailed proposals for housing mix, landscaping and building materials.
The proposals include a mix of two and three bedroom terrace and semi-detached, as well as four bedroom detached homes to ultimately appeal to a wide range of potential buyers.
Taylor Wimpey said that the Calder Wynd site has been designed to create a sense of place and maximises the latest Scottish Government planning policy for designing streets, with priority given to pedestrians over vehicles.
If given the go ahead, the development will benefit from the delivery of key infrastructure as part of the wider masterplan vision for the area such as the newly upgraded Carnbroe Road, which will allow access to local cycle paths and walkways. Within the development there plans for a playpark as well as additional pockets of open space across for the enjoyment of all.
Colin Blair, technical director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said, “We are delighted to confirm that we have made our MSC application for the development of land off Carnbroe Road, Carnbroe near Coatbridge. This proposed development would see our return to this area of North Lanarkshire and represents a significant and continued investment in the local area by Taylor Wimpey West Scotland
”Our proposed development to deliver 288 new homes at Carnbroe forms a key part of a wider masterplan vision for the area, and we look forward to positive discussions with the local authority in order to progress this development. As well playing our part in the delivery of new homes, our development would provide a range of economic benefits for the local area which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses.”
