McTaggart Group looks to ‘kickstart’ careers of 55 youngsters

YOUNG people in the central belt are set to have the opportunity to participate in ‘high quality’ work experience with McTaggart Group.

It comes after the firm signed up to the UK Government’s kickstart scheme. The initiative aims to create high quality six-month work placements for 16-24 year olds at risk of long-term unemployment.

The company said that up to 55 positions will be made available, with the bulk being within McTaggart Construction. It added that those on the placements will receive a personal development plan, on-site experience and mentoring from the McTaggart team.

Gary Climson, McTaggart Group’s managing director, commented, “Given our focus on delivering affordable housing, we make a commitment to our clients and their local communities at the start of each project to deliver benefits beyond bricks and mortar. The kickstart scheme allows us to take that commitment even further and offer young people a more optimistic future.”

Ross Hammell, McTaggart Construction’s sustainable communities programme manager, added, “McTaggart has been at the forefront of generating youth employment opportunities in construction for several years now. Kickstart affords employers like us the ability to double down on this commitment.”
