Free webinar will explore future of social housing in Scotland

SCOTLAND Excel is teaming up with the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC) to look at the future of social housing with a free webinar created specifically for housing associations.

Speakers will include Stacey Dingwall, senior policy manager from SFHA, who will discuss what is needed beyond 2021 and the importance of delivering the required affordable homes.

She will be joined by Sarah Buchanan, business relationship manager from the CSIC, who will speak about the innovation projects they are supporting to aid recovery of the construction industry within low carbon and sustainable housing.

The interactive event will be hosted by Jenny Bowles, construction category manager at Scotland Excel who will give an update on the organisation’s £1.5 billion new build framework. Supporting Jenny will be Colin Taylor, housing services manager at Scotland Excel, who has knowledge of the social housing landscape.

Julie Welsh, Scotland Excel’s chief executive, said, “We are delighted to continue our support for housing associations and the construction industry during the pandemic. With this latest event we are joined by two extremely influential organisations in the SFHA and the CSIC.

“The Scottish Government’s £24 billion infrastructure investment plan announced at the end of 2020 includes £2.8 billion for new affordable homes over the next five years, so this webinar is a timely opportunity to hear from the industry experts and collaborate with key partners. The goal of the webinar is to stimulate and create conversations that deliver real results for Scottish social housing, and I believe this is the perfect forum for all involved to get together and work towards a recovery where all of society benefits.”

The session is being held on 2 February from 10am to noon. People can sign up for the free webinar through Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/housing-associations-building-scotlands-future-now-tickets-136408685049
