A consultation has commenced ahead of the launch of plans for the build of 84 flats at the site of a former semi-professional football club’s ground in Glasgow.
Merchant Homes Ltd and Advance Construction (Scotland) Ltd are behind the proposals, which would see the build of four, four-storey apartment buildings in Southloch Street in north Glasgow.
In documents accompanying the consultation, planners detailed how the street would be ‘activated’ by bringing life onto the existing blank edge along Southloch Street, and how the urban fabric would be repaired through the creation of high quality housing for social rent in the area.
The now brownfield site was once home to Petershill Football Club, having been used as a football ground since 1944. The ground was renowned as having one of the best pitches in Junior football.
