Taylor Wimpey East Scotland purchases land for next phase of development

TAYLOR Wimpey East Scotland has acquired land to allow the delivery of the next phase of 135 private new homes and 69 affordable homes at its Calderwood development by Clifton Road in East Calder.

Calderwood phase three will see the delivery of three bedroom semi-detached, as well as three, four and five bedroom detached homes to provide a range of options for first time buyers and growing families.

Work on the 69 affordable homes will begin first, providing a mix of two and three bedroom semi-detached homes for social rent. The properties will be made available through The Home Group.

The firm said that the overall masterplan incorporates a design that aims to create a sense of place and maximises the latest Scottish Government Planning Policy for ‘designing places’ where it aims to integrate with the local area.

It added that the development also makes ‘significant’ contributions towards providing additional local education capacity – including the delivery of the new Calderwood Primary School, which is under construction, as well as local transport improvements that are part of Section 75 legal agreement between lead developer Stirling developments and West Lothian Council.

Pauline Mills, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said, “We are so pleased to have acquired further land at Clifton Road in Calderwood, which will allow the delivery of a further 135 provide new homes, and 69 affordable homes, which cements our commitment to the wider West Lothian area.

“Calderwood will not only continue to provide residents from around the local area with a wide selection of homes, it offers great commutable routes to Edinburgh and the wider area. As one of the largest housebuilders in the UK, we are committed to building more than homes and making sure that we add social, economic and environmental value to the wider communities that we operate in.”
