Planning permission secured for build of ten customisable homes

CUSTOM Build Homes (CBH) has obtained planning permission for ten customisable homes to be built within the new town of Shawfair in Midlothian.

CBH said the energy-efficient detached homes offer unique layouts on each floor, with the homes being able to be configured in 27 different ways depending on the needs of individual households.

Each home will be constructed on behalf of the purchasers and delivered as a ‘blank canvas’ for interior design. CBH will then support them to be ‘self finished’ or provide a house fitting service with the support of local Edinburgh designer, Victoria Hopkins.

The firm added that the three, four and five-bedroom houses will offer ‘spectacular’ views of the Pentlands and Edinburgh’s skyline all year round. The newly built Shawfair Station is a five minutes walk from the site, offering links to Edinburgh Waverley and the Borders.

Tom Connor, founder of Custom Build Homes, said, “The prospect of custom housebuilding making its debut in Edinburgh excites me, particularly adjacent to the Shawfair development which has pushed the boundaries of what a new town should be. We’re on a mission to enable anyone who wishes to live in a home which they have designed or customised possible and affordable. For this to happen in my home city for the first time will be a great thing.”
