NICOLA Sturgeon has confirmed that construction workplaces can remain open in the areas of the country placed in level four of Scotland’s Covid-19 tier system.

Scotland’s first minister said, “Those who can work from home should do so, though unlike lockdown earlier in the year, construction and manufacturing workplaces will remain open.”

The following areas have been placed in level four: Glasgow, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire, Stirling, and West Lothian.

The first minister also confirmed that those living in level three or four areas must not travel outside their own council area, except for ‘certain’ essential purposes.

She continued by saying that those living elsewhere in Scotland must not travel to level three or four areas, except for essential purposes. It has not yet been clarified what constitutes as an essential purpose.

The measures come into place on Friday, November 20.
