CMS Window Systems’ support services director, Martin McCrimmon, has been shortlisted for an Institute of Directors (IoD) Scotland award in recognition of his role in the firm’s sustainability strategy.
Martin is a finalist for the first ever ‘Social Value & Sustainability Impact’ award in the IoD Scotland 2020 Director of the Year Awards. The new category recognises directors who demonstrate good awareness of the impact of their company on all aspects of society.
CMS said Martin is directly responsible for devising and delivering the organisation’s sustainability strategy, which has ‘pioneered’ new approaches to how a window, door and curtain walling manufacturing and installation business can operate.
For the past two years, the company has diverted 100% of waste away from landfill thanks to its in-house recycling processes and facilities. CMS has also implemented a biodiversity programme to enhance wildlife around its sites, and supports local communities and staff through projects like its ‘Be Well’ mental health awareness and training programme.
David Ritchie, CEO of CMS Window Systems said, “We’d like to congratulate Martin on being shortlisted for this new IoD award, and thank him for all the hard work he and his team have put in to the sustainability strategy since the inception of CMS in 2006. Martin’s dedication is outstanding, continuously pushing the boundaries and demonstrating that a well-conceived sustainability strategy can be key to a successful and growing company.”
Winners of the IoD Scotland 2020 Director of the Year Awards will be announced on 8 September.
