New Stirling student accommodation facility on course to open this year

A new 159-bed student accommodation project is underway in Stirling.

Maven Capital Partners is behind plans for the development, which will be Maven’s 12th purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) site in the UK.

Paisley-based contractor Clark Contracts has been appointed main contractor, with Workman LLP acting as project manager on the £13.5 million, six-storey development.

The facility is scheduled to open ahead of the 2020/21 academic year and is located in Stirling’s city centre. The complex includes 82 en-suite cluster bedrooms across 2,3,6,8 and 9-bed apartments, and 77 self-contained studios. Amenities include a gym, cinema, private dining room, cycle shelters and common room.

Colin Anderson, partner at Maven said, “We continue to see value in the PBSA sector across many of the UK’s regional towns and cities, driven by growing pressures on the existing stock of accommodation, increasing student numbers and a shift in tenants desire for city centre living. In conjunction with Susan Stephen Architects, Maven has redesigned elements of the building to include more affordable accommodation which is proving extremely popular with students to date.”

Michael Scanlan, director at Clark Contracts added, “We are delighted to be working with Maven on this major development within the student accommodation sector and provide affordable accommodation for the students of Stirling.”
