Fife housebuilder confirms 34% rise in sales

MUIR Homes has revealed the firm has achieved its most successful year of house sales in six years.

In a trading update for the 12 months to 31 January 2020, the Fife-based housebuilder has confirmed an increase of 34% in housing sales from the previous financial year, selling a total of 165 private homes (2018: 123 homes).

The company also achieved an increase of 32% in housing completions, building a total of 207 new homes (2018: 157 homes).

Properties at three developments in the Aberdeenshire area made up a quarter of sales, while developments in Fife and west of Scotland also contributed towards the uplift. Average selling prices increased by 4%.

Ash Sheikh, sales and marketing director of Muir Homes said, “We brought more sales and marketing expertise in-house and this has driven a higher sales rate.”

For 2020, Muir said it has a ‘robust’ pipeline of developments underway and at planning stages. A second phase of 65 homes has launched in Auchterarder, with eleven already sold. The company is also planning its first development in Midlothian and a final phase at Port Glasgow in Inverclyde will be launched in autumn. In Aberdeen, a further 64 new properties will be built at Royal Deeside, together with a new development of 36 homes at Newton of Charleston.

Mr Sheikh added, “We know which locations work for us, and we have fine-tuned our house designs to more closely match customers’ preferences. I am excited about launching our new developments and building on this year’s success.”
