NEW College Lanarkshire has announced its architectural technology team has been shortlisted in two categories in the BIM Awards 2020.
The third annual BIM Awards feature nine categories, with New College Lanarkshire named as a finalist in the ‘Best BIM Training Programme’ section. Additionally, recent graduate Patrycja Wisniewski has been shortlisted as one of three contenders for the ‘BIM Rising Star’ accolade.
Patrycja graduated in HND Computer Aided Architectural Design and Technology (CAADT) from the College’s Motherwell Campus, where she studied for three years. She said, “Being shortlisted for the BIM Rising Star award feels really good. In fact, I already feel like a winner with everything that I have achieved so far.”
Patrycja made the decision to return to education following the birth of her daughter – and is now employed as a trainee civil and structural technician with BakerHicks.
Michael McGuire, lecturer and BIM specialist at New College Lanarkshire added, “Being nominated for these awards speaks volumes about how New College Lanarkshire is leading in the design and delivery of innovative education in digital construction and BIM. From the outset, we strived to design a course that delivered the practical application of BIM and developed the knowledge and skills that industry is crying out for. To be shortlisted alongside experienced and well-known industry giants is testament to the work ethic of our students and staff.”
The winners of the BIM Awards 2020 will be announced at a ceremony at Newcastle-upon-Tyne’s Boiler Shop venue on February 26.
