BARRATT West Scotland and North Lanarkshire Council have teamed up on a third affordable housing project to provide ten housing units in Motherwell.
The homes are within the grounds of a new housing community at Colville Gate. They comprise of four one-bedroom cottage flats and six three-bedroom houses. The properties have been allocated to local residents through the social housing register which is administered by North Lanarkshire Council.
Stuart Dodson, development director at Barratt West Scotland said, “This is our third phase of affordable units that we have delivered in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council and I am proud to report that the project was delivered on time, resulting in quality, affordable homes for the local community. We will continue to partner with North Lanarkshire Council to deliver much needed affordable housing all across North Lanarkshire.”
Councillor Heather Brannan-McVey, convener of communities and housing added, “It’s great to see our tenants have settled in well to their brand new Barratt homes in Ravenscraig, which we purchased directly from the developer. As part of this process we were involved from the initial design stage right through to completion, ensuring they were built to the standards we set for our own homes, including the required accessibility and sustainability standards.
“We recently announced our plans to work with more housing developers to buy new ‘off the shelf homes’. This ‘development pathfinder’ approach will support our exciting plans to deliver 5,000 affordable homes by 2035 and will help accelerate housing development while benefiting the local economy.”
