EDINBURGH Marina Holdings has announced another successful planning appeal with detailed consent granted by the Scottish Government to develop The Moorings, a 100-apartment development with direct access to the new Edinburgh Marina.
The Moorings will offer a waterside setting and feature duplex penthouses and garden apartments with their own private patio gardens overlooking the new Edinburgh Marina. Prospective purchasers of apartments will have the opportunity to reserve a berth at the marina at the same time as they reserve their apartment.
In his decision notice, the Reporter stated, “I find that the layout, materials, design, height and density of the proposal are appropriate to the location… the proposed use of zinc cladding and larger windows on the upper floors and recessed vertical sections all contribute to a modern appearance, in keeping with the completed blocks. This helps to provide a sense of place which ties in with the council’s aspirations for the wider masterplan area and drawing on the positive characteristics of the area.”
Charles Price, who is the Edinburgh Marina asset manager and responsible for the Masterplan said, “We are delighted that the Scottish Government recognised that this scheme provides a sense of place and also the significant value of Edinburgh Marina will have on the local the community. The Moorings will provide more much needed homes as part of our vision for a world-class waterside destination for Scotland.”
