Inverness event to offer guidance on traditional buildings

A free event is taking place in Inverness designed to provide advice and guidance on looking after traditional buildings.

The Inverness Townscape Heritage Project (ITHP) and Doors Open Days Highland are organising the event, titled Tenement Toolkit.

The event will be held at Abertarff House, Church Street, Inverness, on September 5 and feature conservation architect Calum Maclean of MAAC Studio, which works exclusively on historic buildings.

Calum will be joined by solicitor Ross Linn of Stronachs LLP, who will provide a legal perspective, and Denise Robbins and Yvonne Stewart, who are residents of an Inverness tenement and will share their experience of setting up a residents group and dealing with repairs.

Free copies of the ITHP maintenance booklet will also be available for attendees to take home.

Calum Maclean said, “There are so many beautiful, historic buildings in Inverness and the Highlands, and we must ensure these are well looked after. Maintenance can sometimes seem daunting, but I hope to give attendees practical advice and guidance, together with support information and details of where to find help.”
