Housebuilder to engage local community over next stage of Bilston homes

TAYLOR Wimpey East Scotland and Hallam Land Management have submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to Midlothian Council regarding an intention to submit a planning application for phase two of residential development at Seafield Road in Bilston.

The proposal is to deliver around 250 new homes comprising a mix of house types.

Taylor Wimpey said the land outlined for the proposed development is the balance of the site identified as allocated for housing development in the Local Development Plan. The housebuilder will now begin a community engagement programme, where members of the public will get the opportunity to air their views as the plans evolve over the coming months.

Pauline Mills, land & planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland said, “Our Proposal of Application Notice for phase 2 of residential development on land at Seafield Road in Bilston allows us to begin the very important process of community engagement to discuss our development proposals for the area, which will include a public consultation event on 12 September 2019 in Bilston Miners Welfare and Social Club.

“We are fully committed to a detailed programme of engagement with local communities throughout the lifetime of our developments, and a public consultation event as part of the overall process allows us to understand and consider the views from as many stakeholders as possible as we develop our proposal.

“Whilst the event will not be held until 12 September 2019, we would like to take this opportunity of encouraging as many people as possible to be involved in our community consultation programme in order to share their views so that we may consider these as we develop our emerging development proposal. We will take the opportunity to promote the event locally nearer the time.”
