OGILVIE Construction has started work on a new £20 million student residence in Glasgow.
The New City Road project is being delivered for Bricks Capital, and will result in the second facility in the city for the ‘true student’ brand.
Ogilvie explained that the 13-storey L-shaped tower will create 315 rooms comprising a mix of individual studios and shared apartments with associated communal areas.
Student facilities include a gym, cinema, and study areas. The building is expected to open in summer 2020.
The first ‘true student’ Glasgow development, which was also built by Ogilvie, opened in Kelvinhaugh Street in the city’s west end in 2017. Providing 592 rooms, the project won the Property Week’s ‘UK Private Halls of Residence of the Year’ for 2018.
Donald MacDonald, MD of Ogilvie Construction said, “We are proud to continue our partnership with Bricks Capital and look forward to handing over a building of the highest standard incorporating the latest sustainable materials and design. When complete, the building will create a unique modern city living environment for students in Glasgow.”
