RYAN Swan has been appointed project manager to oversee the progress of Aberdeen’s new £800 million Countesswells community.
A chartered civil engineer, he will manage the development of the town, with responsibility for overseeing the delivery of the growing 3,000-home community. Plans for the community’s first bus service, new school and neighbourhood centre are all currently proceeding.
Ryan has previously worked for Balfour Beatty Investments, Robertson Group and Fairhurst. Recent projects he has been involved with include the construction of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s £110 million Emergency Care Centre and the delivery of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) roads project.
Countesswells is being taken forward by Countesswells Development Limited (CDL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Stewart Milne Group.
Alex Goodfellow, group MD at Stewart Milne Group said, “With extensive experience of working on both infrastructure and new-builds, Ryan is a welcome addition to our team of passionate experts. From the get-go, Countesswells has been an ambitious and unique development for the region and an exemplary project in terms of its funding, master-planning, place-making and delivery. Significant investment, effort and skill has already gone into creating a real sense of community spirit and place within the town.”
Ryan added, “I’m proud and privileged to be offered the opportunity to build on the progress achieved by the specialist team who have already made Countesswells both unique and award-winning. As we progress through the second phase of infrastructure works, with more and more residents now moving in, the community is really starting to take shape.
“In recent weeks we’ve handed over the region’s first community orchard to residents and later this month and welcomed the new number 44 bus service to the town. This is a fantastic and exciting time to be joining and I can’t wait to see things progress.”
