WHITEBURN Projects has been appointed principal contractor at Caerlee Mill in Innerleithen, with work now underway on the £3.3 million residential project for Edinburgh-based property developers Whiteburn Group.
The aim is to deliver a range of two, three and four-bedroom houses and cottage flats, designed to reflect the spirit of the former mill site as well as the heritage of the village structure.
The on-site team is led by project manager Charlie Bain, with work described as ‘already progressing well’. Installation of the first timber frames for the new properties is expected to begin from June.
Roger Bainbridge, director of design & delivery for Whiteburn Projects said, “We are evolving from developer to builder at Whiteburn in order to deliver our homes for sale, which gives us control of the quality of our supply chain. This is a natural progression for our business, where we believe there is an opportunity within the Scottish residential market for Whiteburn as an SME housebuilder.”
