Five Moray schools to benefit from upgrade works

MORRISON Construction has been appointed main contractor to deliver upgrade works on five schools for Moray Council.

The council is spending £2.2 million on new heating systems, electrical upgrades and other essential work. The programme of improvement works will be undertaken at New Elgin Primary, Anderson’s Primary School in Forres, Cluny Primary School, Buckie, Forres Academy and Speyside High School, Aberlour.

The contract was awarded through the Scottish Procurement Alliance framework. Morrison said the plan is to carry out work during the school summer holidays, with some initial works having already been carried out during the Easter break.

Donald McLachlan, Morrison Construction managing director for Building Highland said, “We’re delighted to be entrusted with the council’s essential maintenance programme to improve the condition and sustainability of their education estate. We have a wealth of experience of working on education projects and will be collaborating closely with all stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption for the pupils and staff.”
