New student complex delivered in Edinburgh city centre

PAISLEY-based Clark Contracts has announced the completion of a design and build contract for a new student accommodation complex in Edinburgh for Curlew Property.

The building at 22-24 Potterrow comprises 52 studio apartments along with common rooms and amenity areas across six floors. Each apartment features its own work area, storage and double bed. Shared apartments feature a fitted kitchen and living area as well as a ‘high spec’ bathroom. Studio apartments come with their own en-suite shower room and private mini kitchen.

Clark Contracts explained that the building was constructed with stone cladding to blend in with surrounding buildings. Offsite construction was used to create bathroom pods to improve the build quality and reduce time spent on site.

Michael Scanlan, director at Clark Contracts said, “It is fantastic for us to have completed and handed over this new build student accommodation which was completed within an extremely restricted site in Edinburgh city centre.”

The project, designed by Yeoman McAllister, was shortlisted for the Student Accommodation of the Year Award at the 2019 Scottish Property Awards.
