CCG donation helps school invest in CPR teaching kit

CCG is donating £1,500 to East Milton Primary School in South Lanarkshire, which will be spent on resuscitation manikins for the teaching of CPR.

The construction firm is working with South Lanarkshire Council to deliver 30 affordable homes on a site adjacent to the school. The donation forms part of CCG’s community benefit initiative for the area which has seen two full-time jobs, two trade apprenticeships and three work placements created whilst curriculum support was provided to pupils of the primary school and local colleges.

Lesley Callaghan, East Milton Primary headteacher said, “CCG have worked closely with East Milton Primary School to minimise disruption, ensure the safety of pupils and to assist the school in the education of pupils. CCG’s subcontractor Malcolm’s even made mini telephones from plumbing pipes for infants to use when learning phonics as part of their Active Literacy and our nursery children, who developed their own mini building site, were provided with high-vis vests and hard hats.”

Tom Tracy, CCG contracts manager for the project added, “As a responsible contractor, CCG is always looking for meaningful ways to contribute to the local communities that we operate in. With the primary school being next door to the development site, it was a natural fit and we are glad the donation will help provide long-term educational support for pupils, staff and their families.”

CCG is also working with South Lanarkshire Council to deliver 18 affordable homes in Carluke as the council progresses with its Homes+ programme, which aims to provide 1000 additional council homes across South Lanarkshire by 2021.

Both organisations, alongside hub South West, are also set to embark on a 330-unit mixed-tenure residential development in Cambuslang later this year.
