CONTRACTOR akp has been engaged to carry out the internal fit out of a newly extended University of the West of Scotland (UWS) building.

The firm successfully completed the Cat-B enhancement and Cat-C fit out of the new UWS Eco Campus in Hamilton in 2018 and will now deliver the internal fit out of the newly extended UWS Edzell building to form teaching and research laboratories.

akp is working in partnership with FES in a joint venture on the project, which is due to be completed in July.

The new Eco Campus has drawn interest from across the education, construction and property sectors, according to akp, and was recently visited by the British Council of Offices judging panel, having been put forward for an award.

Ian McEwan, akp joint managing director commented, “We are delighted to be continuing the growth of our portfolio within the education, research and development sectors.”
